LOVE 2 ASL
PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT CENTER
"The interpreter scene prior to 1964 was so vastly different from that which exists today that it is a strain on the imagination to contemplate it ... We did not work as interpreters, but rather volunteered our services as our schedules permitted. If we received any compensation it was freely given and happily accepted, but not expected." - Lou Fant, RID biographer

Our Email address has changed!
When Love2ASL joined Face Book, we had no idea how many emails we would be receiving ever day, too many to handle but enough to enjoy. So, we created another email just to receive emails from our Love2ASL community.
We are having a huge influx of facebook friends emails all mixed in with your emails, its taking a lot of time to sort them all out.
Our policy is to answer your emails within 48 hours, if you do not hear from us within 48 hours please resubmit your email, with hundreds of emails we receive it is possible to have missed yours, and in order to continue answering your emails promptly, we have had to create an email just for you!

REMEMBER!
Be sure to inquire about the background and qualifications of your instructor or mentor, and make sure they have at least 12-15 years of "certified" professional interpreting experience under their belt in a variety of interpreting settings. Being an interpreter without being certified is like being a therapist without an MFT license, or being a doctor without being board certified.
I surveyed a dozen or more interpreters that grew up in the Deaf culture and have been working interpreters for 25+ years and they all agreed it took them at least 12-15 years of Professional interpreting, before they felt like they had a good handle on their interpreting profession and knew what to teach other interpreters.

You get what you pay for... Don't be pennywise and a pound (dollar) foolish!
Cheaper is not always better... usually its somewhere in the middle...
intelligent people look for the right price for the right fit (workshop)...
In these difficult econmic times, we need to spend our hard earned money wisely.
Things to consider when paying for a service are not only the hours of a workshop must must also include, gas, mileage, wear and tear, the value of our personal time that we schedule, traveling to and from a workshop are all of these are important factors.
You do the math...
5-hr workshops for $40.00 = $8.00 hr
W/ Free CEU's
or
3 hr workshops for $26.00 = $8.67hr
W/ $5.00-$10.00 fees for CEU's.
You be the Judge!
