"LEGAL EAGLE INTERPRETER"

This Workshop will introduce you to Legal Interpreting. You will learn legal vocabulary and how vocabulary impacts interpreters in the Criminal, Civil, Federal and Appellate Courts. You will learn the differences and protocols of Felonies, Misdemeanors and Infractions.

You will be taken through the process beginning with the Arrest phase to the Trial phase. Learn how to interpret the Miranda Rights and see what protocols you need to know in the Courtroom.

You will learn how to interpret the forms used by the courts for Arraignments, not-guilty plea, guilty-plea and the Tahl Forms.

Additional topics discussed will include Probation vs. Parole Traffic Infractions, Jury Deliberations, Acquittals, dismissal

Learn legal vocabulary signs for Drunk Driving, Medical Malpractice

Possession of an illegal substance,

Domestic Violence,

Family Law

This workshop will be taught by a 35 year veteran of legal interpreting in the California Court System, she will teach you what you need to know to be a qualified legal court interpreter.

WHEELCHAIR ACCOMMODATIONS:

We do not have wheelchair accommodations we are on the second floor. There is no elevator in the building, However, accommodations can be made with a 6-week written notice in advanced  "Accommodations Request" at the time you register for the workshop.

All workshops will be posted 2 months in advance, excluding last minute opportunities with special Deaf Guests.
