LEARN TO SIGN
American Sign Language
Survival Signs for Non-Verbal Children and Adults.
DR. JUTI SESHIE, has been teaching a course she designed 25 years ago for the deaf and disabled children in her residential home she operated for 25 years.
Juti has taught her program at local Orange County and Los Angeles county adult classes, community colleges and Orange County Probation and Law Enforcement required continuing education classes. She has taught sign language to Sheriffs, City Police and Probation Officers working with Deaf children.
Dr. Seshie recognized after teaching a young 15 year old, with autism, just a few signs, his level of frustration and physical outbursts subsided in an amazingly short amount of time. This child who had never bonded with anyone, began to smile at Juti and reach for her hand.
Juti has also taught 100's of parents of developmentally challenged children with cerberal palsy, dysarthria and apraxia.
Almost any challenge or limitation that impacts the ability to speak can be enhanced by their ability to learn and use sign language.
This course is not intended to teach you to be fluent in sign language, this program's sole intention is to help you communicate in sign language, with the words most often used at home and at school.
After 25 years of teaching developmentally challenged children how to communicate in sign language, Juti recognized that frustration and angry outbursts almost immediately subsided when the ability to communicate the simplest of words like, milk, cookie, hungry, tired, sleep, drink, potty, bus, school, and much more was in place.
Learning American Sign Language
CONVERSATIONAL ASL
This course is for those who want to learn American Sign Language, quickly.
Juti grew up with Deaf parents and learned sign language in her everyday life. There were no schools of American Sign Language that children with deaf parents, attended, to learn sign language.
Sign language was learned at home by practice and repetition.
Signs were learned at home as needed, in relationship to what was age appropriate.
Conversational ASL is the easiest and fastest way to be able to begin to communicate in American Sign Language.
This class is not intended to prepare you for the interpreting phase of American sign language, However, it can never hurt to learn more sign language vocabulary.
Conversational ASL is a great place to start and see if you want to learn more.
