LOVE 2 ASL

 PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT CENTER

"The interpreter scene prior to 1964 was so vastly different from that which exists today that it is a strain on the imagination to contemplate it ... We did not work as interpreters, but rather volunteered our services as our schedules permitted. If we received any compensation it was freely given and happily accepted, but not expected." - Lou Fant, RID biographer

Volunteer staff Members...

Traci, Pat, Kimberly, Dorene, Zak, Bryant, David

TRACI is,

Love2ASL's

Business Manager

"Soccer/Baseball Mom"

"Campfire Mom"

"Advertising Aid"

"Daughter/Friend"

Traci learned sign language growing up in a home where sign language was the native language. Traci's deaf grandmother, and mother, Juti, used sign language daily giving Traci the wonderful opportunity to learn ASL totally immersed in an environment that used ASL conversationally and naturally everyday.

She went on to embrace the deaf culture life she grew up in and related to so much that she went to Golden West College, in Huntington Beach, California and got her ASL interpreting certification in their   ITP program.

When Traci attended her first ASL class the instructor knew she was too advanced for the class and tested her out and move her into ASL 2 again she was tested out and she ended up testing her out of all 3 of the ASL classes and finally found a home in the Interpreting I class.

After she completed the  certified course in interpreting, aka ITP at GWC, she immediately began interpreting for Deaf students attending GWC.

Then she went on to do her Bachelor's Degree at CSU, Fullerton she began interpreting for students who are Deaf at CSUF.

After she had her 1st child, she became a stay at home mom (Dr. Laura's proud of you!) and a 2nd child was born and when both of her children began attending school, she returned to her career in the professional field of  interpreting.

Traci began taking refresher courses at Love2asl's  interpreter educational outreach Center and soon after was back in the saddle doing Post-secondary educational interpreting.

Traci has completed the  AMP course and the PEP course and continues to assist whenever she can. She also teaches Smart Baby Signs and Conversational ASL for children.

Jaymie is,

A true friend & confidant and even though she has moved on to greener pastures a "JOB" that pays real money $$$

Jaymie fell in love with sign language immediately and has picked up ASL at an amazing pace.

Jaymie  is an inspiring student of Conversational ASL and she just can't learn fast enough for all she wants to say to her Deaf friends!

Jaymie has immersed herself in the Deaf culture and attends the Wednesday night classes at Love2ASL Professional Develoment Center,

 in Anaheim.

Jaymie volunteered to work side-by-side with Juti to create, organzie and support Juti during the opening phase of Love2ASL.com, later when we moved into two offices, Jaymie was there providing brains and brawn. After moving into our new offices Jaymie diligently answered phone calls, enrolled students, prepared  registration sheets,  certificates, and more.

She has been a true friend and confidant and even though we are thrilled is has landed the job of her dreams, she is greately missed and greately loved.
